Kara Williamson’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing and general corporate governance and counseling. Kara joined the firm as an associate in 2011. Previously, she was an associate in the Corporate Health Care group at Alston & Bird LLP where her practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital transactions, public and private equity and debt financings, corporate governance matters and securities offerings and filings.  Her work has included acquisitions of physician groups, hospitals and other health care service companies, health care finance and the representation of hospitals, home health companies, laboratories and health care service companies in general corporate work and mergers and acquisitions.

Kara received her J.D., cum laude, from Georgia State University in 2007. While there, she was heavily involved in the Association of Women Law Students and served as its secretary, vice president and president. Before attending law school, she worked in the Credit and Risk Management Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta for five years. In 1999, she received a B.A., cum laude, in economics and business from Agnes Scott College, where she was a member of Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Epsilon.

Ms. Williamson is an active volunteer for the Truancy Intervention Project (TIP) and is currently working on an article for the Hofstra Law Family Court Review Journal for the TIP program, expected to be published in late summer 2011. She is also the legal advisor to Metro Atlanta Respite and Development Services, Inc., a nonprofit in southwest Atlanta that provides respite services to families with children who have special needs.
